Ahlul-Bayt Essay Contest
The Muslim society has witnessed dramatic changes in the recent past, which challenge us to re-think the role of the Ahlul-Bayt in the Muslim community.
What is our place in this increasingly complex global picture? How do we best promote respect for human rights and the growth of freedom and justice using the Ahlul-Bayt as our role models?
Our community depends on knowledgeable and thoughtful students like you—the next generation of leaders—to foster respect, peace, freedom and justice among nations and people by knowing the Ahlul-Bayt and following their footsteps.
With the belief that
knowledge about our religion is vital for the success of our society, we have
established the Ahlul Bayt-Essay contest to expand educational opportunities for
Muslim youth.

Promotes serious discussion among high
school, college and university students and
Muslim scholars about
the role of Ahlul-Bayt today and in the future.
•
Complements existing scholastic activities
among Muslim youth and encourages
reading
activities to inquire about Ahlul-Bayt.
•
Strengthens students' research, writing, and reasoning skills.
•
Meets National Contest Standards.
Essay Winners Will Receive:
1st place winner: $3,600 ($300 for 12 months)
2nd place winner: $1,800 ($300 for 6 months)
3rd place winner: $900 ($300 for 3 months)
Essay Contest Topic
In 1500 to 2500 words, discuss the following topic:
In writing your essay, use the following as your guideline:

Select specific issues that are of
importance to you and explain why you have chosen them.
•
Describe and analyze the role of the member
of the Ahlul-Bayt that you have chosen in application to resolving these particular
issues and discuss the immediate consequences.
•
Keep in mind that some of the current
interests include: human rights, freedom, security, love for one another,
democracy, countering terrorism.
Please submit 3 typewritten hard copies along with a soft copy CD in MS-Word

A panel of judges will evaluate the essays and the winners will be announced in February. The decision of the judges is final.
