Imam Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini's historical trip to Iraq (Imam stands in the Grand Mosque of Kufa) Development and Relief Foundation (DRF) is a non-profit charitable organization that was founded in 2003 by Ayatollah Sayed Mortada al-Qazwini (shown sitting in the last picture between two of his sons, Imam Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini and Sayed Hossein al-Qazwini). Since its inception, DRF is sponsoring four major projects in Karbala: 1) Assadiq School & dormitory for the orphans 2) Imam al-Hujjah Charity Hospital 3) Advanced Islamic Seminary 4) a cardiac wing at the Children's Hospital. A Visit to Imam Assadiq School & Orphanage in Karbala
The school and orphanage is the first formal project of the Development and Relief Foundation in Karbala. The four-story institute opened in October 2007 and currently enrolls 200 orphaned students from pre-school to 6th grade. The school is embarking on constructing an adjacent trade and technical school for orphaned high school pupils. Construction of Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital in the Heart of Karbala With its impressive size (8-story), the Imam Al-Hujjah Hospital will be the first state of the art medical facility in Karbala, which will provide 300 beds for patience. The building of the hospital is estimated to cost over 15 million and will serve the residents and its millions of visitors of Karbala. Opening Soon Advanced Islamic Seminary Imam Assadiq Islamic Seminary will provide advanced Islamic teachings, with an emphasis on enrolling a high percentage of foreign students wishing to learn traditional form (hawzah) of Islamic teachings. The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (as) in Karbala For the first time, Imam Sayed Moustafa al-Qazwini was humbled to sit at the pulpit delivering a speech in the courtyard of the grandson of the Holy Prophet (pbuh&hf), the beloved Imam Hussain (as). Crowds of worshippers lined the courtyard to hear about their fellow brothers and sisters in America and Islam in America. The Holy Shrine of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (as) in Najaf The Grand Mosque in Kufa 2nd Annual DRF Charity Conference Numerous charitable organizations in Iraq gathered at the 2nd annual DRF Charity Conference to discuss and support charitable projects throughout Iraq. The Imam spoke on the role of civil society and charitable organization in the re-building of Iraq. Islamic Seminary in Karbala Imam al-Qazwini visited Ibn Fahid al-Hilli Islamic seminary in Karbala. The Imam addressed the need of intellectual and spiritual Muslim leaders throughout the world. A Forum on Iraqi Coverage in American Media Media professionals held a forum that discussed American press coverage of Iraq. Imam al-Qazwini stressed the importance and mission of a free and unbiased media in Iraq. The Imam Addresses Ahlul Bayt University Students in Karbala Imam Qazwini was invited to address students at Ahlul Bayt University, the first private university in Iraq located in Karbala. Students closely listened to the Imam's talk on the role of education and the significance of pursuing higher studies.
