Holy Pilgrimage to Karbala, Iraq, 2009

In early April 2009, Imam Sayed Moustafa al- Qazwini, along with a group from the Islamic Educational Center of Orange County made a special visit to Iraq and its holy shrines.

The group had the honor of visiting the shrines of Imam Hussein and his brother, al-Abbas (as) in Karbala.  At the shrine of Imam Hussein, Imam al-Qazwini delivered a sermon to a crowd of thousands regarding the discipleship of Ahlul Bayt in Islam. A special trip to the shrine of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) in Najaf, and the holy shrines in Samarra and Khadhamayn were also visited.

The Grand Ayatollah Sayed Ali Sistani in his residence in Najaf then received Imam al-Qazwini and some members of the group.

The group toured the humanitarian and philanthropic projects undertaken by Ayatollah Sayed Mortada al-Qazwini in Karbala, such as the current construction of a multi-facility hospital, the operation of a school for orphans, and a vocational school for adults.

The group also travelled to the most deprived areas of Karbala where they visited and distributed financial support to numerous orphans and widows. For more information on the projects in Karbala visit: http://www.drfcharity.org/home
